In my opinion, gun laws need to be smarter not harder. More strict gun laws does not decrease gun violence. According to FBI statistics from 2012, areas of low gun violence incidents are the same areas that have more open gun laws which means more legally owned firearms. By passing stricter gun laws you are only hurting those of us who are law abiding citizens. By making weapons harder to obtain you aren't making it harder for criminals, you are making it harder for the normal person. A criminal is not going to stop and think if they are breaking the law. For that reason they will find other, illegal, means of getting firearms. Although I do believe certain things should be looked at another time, for example, bump stocks. States with open gun laws have a 23% lower amount of violent crime, 5% lower murder rate, 23% lower assault rate, and 36% lower robbery rate. Strict gun laws will not solve anything.
